Jack Petchey

Jack Petchey Award

The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex by providing exciting projects and programmes for them to get involved in. The aim of the scheme is to recognise, reward and celebrate all achievements.

JPF runs three different scheme levels of award :

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold

Welling is at the Gold level, so we have 9 winners each year. The nominations are done termly in Autum, Spring and Summer terms.

Each winner have the flexibility to decide how the money (£300) is spent, which could include purchasing equipment, funding activities or outings, hiring a guest speaker, organising a celebration event, or covering the cost of a training course.

Who should win?

These awards are NOT about “being the best!”, they are about “doing your best.”

When nominating, you should consider nominating students who are always:

  • Helping others
  • Being a good role model
  • Coping with adversity (challenges)
  • Doing community work
  • Giving service within the school
  • Or simply trying their hardest!

Write a brief statement/ paragraph saying why you have nominated this person.

Recognising Leader Award

Nominations are not just for students either, you can also nominate staff. You have the opportunity to recognise that special adult, they could be a member of staff, a volunteer, parent, manager or other significant adult. They will get a grant of £1200 to fund a project of their choice.

Medallion Presentations

All winners will be invited  to a prestigious Regional (Clubs) or Borough (schools) medallion event at the end of the year, with family, friends and staff. Here are some photos from some of our previous winners :
