Entry Requirements
Welling School Sixth Form are proud to offer a range of courses and pathways, the entry requirements for each are listed below.
Please note that some subjects require specific GCSE grades as well as the entry requirements.
Academic pathway
In order to study a pathway of 3 or more A-Level subjects a minimum of five grade 5s are required in full GCSE subjects, including Maths and English. On this pathway the student will study no vocational subjects.
Mixed pathway
In this pathway students study 3 courses that are a combination of A-Level and Level 3 courses. In order to study this pathway a minimum of five grade 4s are required in full GCSE subjects and specific entry requirements for A-Level subjects.
Applied Pathway
In order to study a pathway of 3 Level 3 BTEC/OCR or vocational subjects a minimum of four grade 4s in full GCSE subjects.
English and Maths GCSE Resit
If you have not achieved a grade 4 in either English or Maths GCSE then you will be required to resit these subjects as part of your timetable.

Results Day
Once results are published in August, you will receive a confirmation letter of your place in the Sixth Form or be invited to join us to discuss possible alternative courses on the day of collection if you have failed to meet the entry requirements for your chosen courses.
Please note
- No course can be confirmed until we know the intended take-up numbers.
- Places at Welling School are unable to be confirmed until September 2024.
- Home school students will always get priority followed by consortium students.
- Course criteria may change depending on the interest in the course.
