Trips and Visits

Throughout the school calendar year, we are proud of the trips and visits that we can offer our students. We firmly believe that these experiences help to build our students characters and provide them with a way to experience different cultures and places.

London Theatre Visits

This year alone has seen us take our students to several live performances in London. Some of the include

Hamilton on Broadway tickets

Hamilton

Hamilton is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway - the story of America then, as told by America now.

Dear England

Dear England

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game?

The team has the worst track record for penalties in the world, and manager Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take team and country back to the promised land.

Poetry

Live Poetry

Lion King

The Lion King

Disney’s award-winning musical The Lion King explodes with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music. It follows the powerful story of Simba as he journeys from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands.

Now in its 26th year at London's Lyceum Theatre, visionary director Julie Taymor’s acclaimed reimagining of Disney's beloved film will redefine your expectation of theatre.

Macbeth

Macbeth

Unsettling intimacy and brutal action combine at breakneck speed as Max Webster directs the tale of love, murder, and nature’s power of renewal.  Groundbreaking sound design and live Celtic folk music (all played through lightweight headphones provided) immerse the audience in every whisper, cry and thought.

Sixth Form Trip to New York

New York

New York, the city that never sleeps, the big apple that offers delicious opportunities for anyone lucky enough to visit. Here at Welling, we offer our Sixth form students a trip of a life time to New York. On a sixth form trip to New York, students will enhance not only their subject knowledge but also their personal development skills. Students can solidify their learning through trips like these, experiencing study areas first-hand in real-world situations. Personal growth goes hand in hand with student’s academic development, and a sixth form trip to New York can provide the following benefits:

  • Expansion of their cultural capital
  • Enhanced communication skills
  • Interactive learning opportunities
  • Team building activities
  • Building confidence
  • Strengthen independence
  • Improved critical thinking skills

Through collaborative exercises and activities, students will get a chance to develop these skills while covering numerous curriculum-linked study topics.

History - Berlin Trip

Berlin

The History Department runs an educational trip to Berlin to support the KS4 History curriculum and enrich the learning experience for our students. Seeing the areas that students are learning about will be a worthwhile and moving experience for them. The study themes covered will be Berlin 1918 to 1945, the Cold War and Germany’s reunification.  We will visit the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, the Berlin Wall Memorial and GDR Museum as well as taking part in tours of Berlin Tempelhof Airport, the Olympic Stadium and many more.  It should be noted that although the trip will be a highly valuable experience, students who do not attend will not be hampered in their curriculum studies.
